Sean Connery, dressed in a dinner jacket and aiming a pistol, looks directly at the viewer. Behind him stands a vivid red Union Jack in its distinctive diagonal form. The artwork references the early Bond era with remarkable precision: Connery, the first and, for many, the defining 007, is placed among British symbols and an advertising slogan that appeared regularly throughout the Bond films of the 1960s. Devin Miles works with the collective memory of popular culture—the elements are familiar, but their composition is entirely his own.

Devin Miles (*1961, Duisburg) draws inspiration from the visual language of European and American cinema of the 1950s and 1960s. Screen legends meet symbols of popular culture and everyday aesthetics in a mixed-media technique combining screen printing, painting, and digital image processing, with up to twenty layers superimposed upon one another.
His works are represented in more than 80 European galleries and are part of important private collections, including the Reinhold Würth Collection.
